Westfield, LAWA Hold Outreach Event for New LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse

Los Angeles World Airports and Westfield hosted more than 400 operating partners, ACDBEs, brands, and airport stakeholders on Wednesday to introduce the vision and leasing opportunities of the New International Concourse at Tom Bradley International Terminal.

On February 21st, 2018, Los Angeles World Airports and Westfield hosted more than 400 operating partners, ACDBEs, brands, and airport stakeholders to introduce the vision and leasing opportunities of the New International Concourse at Tom Bradley International Terminal.

The new 750,000 square-foot concourse will feature 27 retail, dining and amenity opportunities totaling more than 28,000 square feet.

“We want the big ideas and the dreams and the future of travel to be here at LAX,” LAWA CEO Deborah Flint told the audience. “We ask that you do more than just imagine it, but bring that creativity.”

In order to provide additional time for bidders to network, partner, and secure brands and concepts, Westfield plans to wait approximately two months before formally releasing the Competitive Evaluation Process.

The new concourse will be both a continuation of the success of Tom Bradley International Terminal while providing its own, unique experience. The CEP will include multiple packages, including two that are available exclusively for 100 percent ACDBE participation. Fifteen units are open to all bidders.

“We’re taking a holistic approach to maximize participation and create the best possible experience,” said Michael Caro, Westfield’s Vice President of Leasing at LAX. “Because we’re not just leasing space. We’re creating an experience.”

Beth Campbell, Westfield’s Executive Vice President/Head of Design, presented the design vision of the new concourse. The traveler journey includes three districts representing Los Angeles – Civic Center, Mid City and Ocean Communities.

Travelers enter the concourse in the Civic Center district, which features a streamlined, modern feel to evoke the high rises of downtown LA. Heading north through the concourse, travelers leave downtown and enter Mid City, an artisanal space with art deco inspiration and an industrial, textured feel. The Ocean Communities district rounds out the traveler experience, bringing an eclectic and artsy stroll down the boardwalk.

“We want to bring more of LA into LAX,” Campbell said. “We want to challenge you to be trend-setters. Make a difference. Influence. Join us in making this more transformational and less transactional.”
