With an investment of $200+ million in highly focused working capital, URW develops, designs, constructs, leases, and manages the commercial program at five LAX terminals, investing flexible, efficient capital with mid-term refurbishments towards commercial areas and other base building works to keep the program fresh.
Extending LAWA’s commercial and development teams, URW partners with the many stakeholders with a tailored approach to transforming each terminal while creating one holistic experience across LAX that is authentically L.A., customized to the terminal’s unique customer profile, and drives significant sales and revenue growth.
URW is partnering with LAWA to deliver a continuously enhanced guest experience, including through LAXShopDine.com, a digital marketplace and fully searchable product catalog with a flexible backend to easily integrate partners and services. In 2020, we proudly partnered with LAWA and Serve to launch LAX Order Now, an airport-wide mobile platform for contactless ordering, pickup, and coming soon, delivery.
URW continues to support the acceleration of LAX’s transformation, including most recently the 2021 opening of Bradley West Gates and the Delta Sky Way project, on track for completion in 2023.
The $500 million curb-to-gate redevelopment features an exciting new dining and retail program amidst a modern, comfortable environment that captures Southwest’s fun, unconventional brand. Expanding the commercial program by more than 30% from pre-redevelopment, the new Terminal 1 showcases beloved local brands like Urth Caffé alongside nationally recognized stalwarts.
The transformation of Terminal 1 has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named as a recipient of the Gold, Renovations & Expansions award by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in its 2019 North America Design and Development Awards.
