URW Airports celebrated the ribbon cutting of O’Hare International Airport’s first 100 percent ACDBE owned and operated concept on March 29 with the grand opening of Garrett Popcorn Shops in Terminal 5.
Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Jamie Rhee joined URW Airports Vice President of Development and Asset Lead Brian Petrow and partners from Midway Restaurant Group and Pastorelle Marketing Group to cut the ribbon on the new shop. Garrett is a popular snack among Chicagoans, travelers and tourists alike and has been named the Best Airport Grab-and-Go Dining brand by USA Today.
Midway and Pastorelle are two local companies that have come together to operate the shop, raising the bar on diversity and inclusion for both operators and employees at O’Hare.
“We are thrilled to welcome our newest location of the iconic Chicago brand, Garrett Popcorn Shop, to O’Hare’s Terminal 5,” said Jamie L. Rhee, Commissioner, CDA. “O’Hare is on the move, serving more passengers than ever before, and this new Garrett location is a taste of what’s to come as we expand opportunities for our travelers to shop, dine and relax. We congratulate this new Garrett location on becoming the first 100 percent joint venture ACDBE concession at O’Hare, and look forward to introducing many more exciting new brands and local staples as we modernize Chicago’s gateway to the world.”
